Mayor Trent embarks on a Bixi journey

WMA president, Jean Pierre Picard, was at the inauguration of the first Bixi station in Westmount, opened Monday 9th May at the corner of Greene and de Maisonneuve.

Mayor Peter Trent officially launched the installation, together with city councillors Gary Ikeman, Theodora Samiotis and Cynthia Lulham (of the ad hoc cycling committee) together with councillors Victor Drury, Kathleen Duncan and Tim Price. Director General, Duncan Campbell was present with communicators director Brigette Stock as well as community events coordinator Virginia Eliot.

The Public Bike System Corporation director of communications, Michel Philibert was present, as was NDG councillor Peter Mcqueen, a keen advocate of active transportation. A large contingent of the Wesmount Walking and Cycling Association, headed by Dan Lambert, were also present. The WWCA have campaigned long and hard, with support from the WMA, for the introduction of Bixi to Westmount.
