Dog Run Issues

The WMA is working hard on the issue of the replacement of the dog run formerly at Lansdowne/St Catherine and we sent a task force to look at all the proposed sites in the Hodgins report that the City had commissioned. We also issued a white paper on July 2nd 2013 on dog issues within Westmount entitled – Canine Management Proposal for Westmount.

We invite you to take the time to visit the proposed sites and form your own opinions and we will be conducting a survey of all our members within the next week. The proposed sites are reproduced in the following graphic (click on it it view full size) and the reference numbers are those used in the evaluation grid.

The City commissioned Hodgins and Associés to evaluate eight potential locations, seven within Westmount Park as well as the former location on Lansdowne/St Catherine and compare these with the existing dog runs in King George Park and Westmount Athletic Grounds. A summary of their evaluation grid is reproduced here (click on the image to view a full-sized version):

Our aim is to ensure a good rigorous process is followed so that the best decision can be made for all of our members and Westmounters.

The WMA conducted a poll in August 2013 and the results are in this google spreadsheet which was shared with our membership and the City Administration.
